Learn to recognize major fan brands and decode their part numbers — the most reliable way to find the correct replacement fan for your laptop.

1 Locate the Brand & Part Number on Your Fan

Check the Sticker

The manufacturer logo (e.g., Delta, Sunon, Nidec) and the full part number (e.g., EG50060S1-C710-S9A) are printed on the fan's top sticker. This is the most reliable source.

Look Up Online

Search the part number on your laptop's support site or use search engines to find the exact fan model and its specifications.

2 Common Fan Brands & Their Characteristics

Brand	Typical Applications	Quality & Noise	Price Range
Delta	Gaming laptops, high‑performance workstations	Excellent cooling, moderate noise	Premium
Sunon	Mainstream laptops, business series	Good balance, quiet operation	Mid‑range
Nidec	Ultrabooks, fanless‑like designs	Very quiet, efficient	Mid‑high
AVC (Asia Vital Components)	Budget laptops, entry‑level models	Adequate cooling, may be noisier	Budget
Foxconn	Various OEM laptops	Varies widely by model	Varies

Note: Even within the same brand, different fan models have different physical dimensions and mounting hole positions. Always confirm the exact part number, not just the brand.

3 How to Choose a Compatible Fan Using PN

Exact PN Match

If your original PN matches the one in the listing, it is guaranteed to fit. This is the safest option.

Cross‑compatible PN

Sometimes different brands use the same design. Check our compatibility list or ask us to verify.

Visual Comparison

Even if the PN differs, if the connector, screw holes, and dimensions match the photos, it may work.

Pre‑Shipment Testing

Visual inspection: Each fan is examined for bent blades, cracked housing, or damaged connectors.
Spin test: We apply a low voltage to the fan to verify smooth rotation and absence of grinding noise.
RPM verification: The fan speed is measured to ensure it matches the specified rating.
Connector integrity: The wire harness and plug are checked for secure soldering and correct pin alignment.
Thermal paste (if included): For fans that come with pre‑applied thermal compound, we inspect the application quality.

Only fans that pass all tests are approved for packing.

Packaging – Protection First

Anti‑static bag: The fan is sealed in an ESD‑safe bag to prevent electrostatic discharge.
Foam padding: Thick foam inserts cradle the fan on all sides to absorb shocks.
Reinforced box: The foam‑wrapped fan is placed in a sturdy corrugated cardboard box.
Void fill: Any empty space is filled with bubble wrap or paper to prevent shifting.
Outer label: The box is securely taped and clearly labeled with the shipping address and tracking barcode.

We use double‑wall boxes for international orders to withstand rough handling.

Replacing a laptop cooling fan requires careful handling. Below are brand‑specific instructions. Always power off your laptop, disconnect the charger, and remove the battery (if removable) before starting. Also, discharge any static electricity by touching a grounded metal surface.

HP (Hewlett‑Packard)

Remove the bottom cover: Unscrew all screws on the bottom panel and carefully pry it off.
Locate the fan: The CPU/GPU fan is usually near the heat sink. Identify the fan module.
Disconnect the fan cable: Gently pull the connector straight out from the motherboard – note the orientation.
Unscrew the fan: Remove the 2‑4 screws securing the fan to the heat sink or chassis.
Remove the fan: Lift the old fan out, and if it’s attached to the heat sink, separate them carefully.
Install the new fan: Place the new fan in position, screw it in, reconnect the cable, and reassemble the bottom cover.

Note: Some HP models require removing the heat sink assembly – in that case, you’ll need to clean and re‑apply thermal paste.

Dell

Remove the bottom cover: Unscrew all screws and detach the cover.
Disconnect the battery: Always unplug the battery cable first to avoid short circuits.
Locate the fan: Dell fans are often combined with the heat sink as a single module.
Disconnect the fan cable: Pull the cable connector from the motherboard.

Post‑installation: After replacing the fan, boot up your laptop and monitor temperatures using software like HWMonitor. Ensure the fan spins up under load – if not, double‑check the cable connection.

Below are the most common issues users encounter with laptop cooling fans. If your problem isn’t listed, please contact our support team.

1. The fan doesn't spin at all

Check the cable connection – re‑seat it firmly. If it still doesn’t spin, the motor may be dead. You can test the fan with a 5V DC source (e.g., USB) to verify – if it still doesn’t spin, replacement is needed.

2. Fan is making loud grinding or rattling noise

This is typically caused by worn‑out bearings or debris stuck in the blades. Try cleaning with compressed air. If noise persists, the bearing is failing – replacement is the only effective solution.

3. Fan runs at full speed constantly (high RPM)

This could be due to a temperature sensor issue or a misconfigured fan curve. Check BIOS settings and update drivers. If the fan is still always on max, the fan’s PWM control may be faulty – replacement may be needed.

4. Fan error at boot (e.g., "Fan failed" or "Fan not detected")

This indicates the motherboard is not receiving a tachometer signal. Reconnect the cable and ensure the pins are not bent. If error persists, the fan’s sensor is defective – replace the fan.

5. Laptop overheats even with fan spinning

The fan may be spinning but not moving enough air due to clogged heatsink fins or dried thermal paste. Clean the heatsink thoroughly and re‑apply thermal paste. If the fan itself is weak, consider replacing it with a higher‑performance model.

6. Fan connector doesn't match the motherboard header

We provide detailed connector photos for each model. If the connector differs, please contact us before installation – we can verify compatibility and exchange if needed. Do not force a mismatched connector.

7. Fan spins briefly then stops

This often indicates a stalled motor or a faulty driver IC. Check for any physical obstruction. If the fan stops after a few seconds, the internal control circuit is failing – replacement is recommended.
